Our client in the public sector is currently looking for an experienced Harbour Assitant to join their busy team for the season
Job Responsibilities:
To work afloat when required in support of Harbou! r Maritime Operations.
Provide advice, when on duty, to Mariners in relation to local Navigation and Safety.
To act as a Port Radio Station operator when required.
Allocate moorings and berths when required.
Charge users for their usage of appropriate services.
Assist in the maintenance of Public Safety and Rescue equipment, Harbour Authority owned Boats and their ancillary equipment and, Navigation Buoys, Lights, Marks and Beacons.
Assist in the maintenance of Pontoons, Quays, Slipways and the Boat lay-up ashore area.
To act as duty Harbour Master, as required by separate orders for this function which includes the operation of the Rhyl Harbour Cycle Bridge.
To act as required in the enforcement of either The Rhyl Harbour Empowerment Order (date) or Local Authority Byelaws relating to the Harbour.
To assist both the Harbour Master and, the Deputy Harbour Master in the generality of their duties.
To assist in the supervision and contr! ol of all water based activity within the harbour area or its ! approaches.
Preferred Skills:
Must be a qualified at RYA Powerboat level 2 and hold a VHF SRC Licence.
Good communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised are required.
The ability to act on individual initiative, in emergencies, to deal with problems arising in the Harbour environment is essential.
