Job Description At Balfour Beatty Rail Limited we currently have a full-time permanent opportunity for an Assistant Project Delivery Engineer wi! thin the Enhancements team based at Newport. This role will be responsible for assisting the Project Delivery Engineer in planning and delivering Enhancements Projects to high engineering standards and fully compliant to enable delivery and timely hand back well within requirements and expectations. Responsibilities The successful candidate will (list not exhaustive): Analyse & utilise external design data: - On a design and build contract manage the Design house, critique the design and input into the buildability/feasibility of the project. Explore opportunity to improve the design with regard to efficiency, budget and engineering focus - On a build only contract liaise with the Client (DPE) any concerns/technical queries regarding design data - Formulate stressing plans - Manipulate external design data into standard Balfour Beatty formats to enable effective setting out and installation; including generation of Scheme Sheets, Test & Inspection plans, As Built sheets, AL! C/Matisa tamping files & 3D design files (eg.
Terramo! del) Assist the Project Manager in generating the WPP. Task Briefing Sheets. In particular planning for excavation, reballasting, tamping & stressing Management of Critical Rail Temperatures on all Enhancements sites Manage the effective setting out of the renewal installation including the use of 3D control methods Manage the engineering compliance of core renewals with the result of achieving acceptable levels of Track Quality Monitor the accurate and consistent recording and delivery of the as-built details Liaise with the Project Manager and the Client to deliver a mutually successful conclusion Effectively communicate task requirements to internal & external staff incl. company briefings Plan and optimise the work on a day to day basis Deliver the P-Way design to time and within cost targets, interfacing with other disciplines as appropriate Identify potential variations to contract and opportunities for added value to the Project Manager Effectively manage the utilisa! tion of plant and equipment on site Manage the tools and equipment so they are maintained, calibrated and documented to required quality standards Assist the Project Manager with completion of the Health & Safety file Report issues and problems to Project Delivery Engineer Work as directed by the Project Delivery Engineer Direct and monitor the Engineering works undertaken by internal & external staff Promote and develop team working Review new developments, techniques and working arrangements to enable the operation and sharing of best practice Undertake projects and assignments as directed by Line Manager Contribute to BBR Ltd wider development The Individual Important experience Minimum ONC Civil Engineering or equivalent In-depth knowledge of P-Way surveying & setting out Proficient knowledge of 3D setting out systems Up-to-date knowledge of plant and equipment Knowledge of P-Way design, clearance and setting out software Extensive on-site experience Knowledge of ISO qu! ality systems Member of a relevant professional institution eg PWI, ICE! .
RICS, ICES An understanding of Railway Track Engineering Risk Management Important skills PTS and COSS Proficient in the use of gauging equipment CAT scanning competence Computer literate: -Tamping software, Knowledge of Gauging software Time management Safety awareness All levels stressing; including Level 3a stressing CDM Regulations awareness Desirable HNC education 5yrs+ Technical Pway Experience Raising and removing speeds (Level II) Computer literate " experience with Microsoft Project, CAD
