My client is a leading digital media company who is looking to recruit a Senior System Engineer to join their growing team. The aim of the role of the Senior System Engineer is preparing, deploying an! d maintaining customers platforms in a complex and demanding software and hardware DTV environment. Responsibilities:
General
- Represent the company at customers premises
- Participate actively in the system engineering groups life, i.e attend meetings and workshops, propose improvements, etc
- Maintain a "can-do" attitude as well as a positive and constructive approach towards the problems at hand
- Attend to the relevant training sessions in order to keep an up-to-date knowledge
- Acquire/maintain an adequate level of expertise on every matter related to his/her work
- Deploy the project according to the deployment plan or equivalent, complying with the best practices developed in the team
- Help to find solutions or workarounds and have them approved by the technical approver of the project
- Listen to customers and help them to handle their DTV platform, and r! ely on a more appropriate interlocutor (Program Manager, Exper! t System Engineer, Architect) whenever needed
- At the end of each mission, prepare a TIR (Technical Intervention Report) and make it available to the concerned project team
- Represent Central Services within the company
- Provide workarounds or solutions to complex problems in the field (S1L)
- Resort to R&D (S3L) whenever a problem is too complex to be solved autonomously
- Comply with the processes and KPIs defined for the S2L ServiceHotline
- Take part in Hotline shifts on a regular basis under the responsibility of the Head of Hotline
- Answer to customers in the most appropriate manner (according to "Callback methodology" and "Troubleshooting methodology")
- Escalate calls when necessary according to "Hotline Guidelines"
- Report promptly every call in the Hotline Ticket Tool
- While on mission, report on a regular basis to the perso! n responsible for the mission
- Report the time spent on the various tasks in EPM, latest on the 5th Swiss business day following a given month
- Report any other problems faced during the day-to-day activity to the Team Lead
- General
- Operating Systems including professional versions of Microsoft Windows, Compaq UNIX TRU 64 and IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux.
- Complex server solution (RAID, Clustering, SAN, etc)
- Computer networking (firewall, switch, router, protocols, routing, TCP/IP packet analysis, etc)
- Database management including Oracle, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server, as well as PL / SQL query language
- Strong knowledge of web and http protocol (http, Apache & NGNIX web servers, cloud computing, CDN)
- Professional experience in building scripts (UNIX & LINUX shell, python, PERL)
- In addition to the language of the base country, the System Engineer is fluent in En! glish. Any additionnal language is a plus
- The System Engineer ! is always customer-driven in his/her attitude and demonstrates good interpersonal skills, face-to-face, over the phone or when writing e-mails
- Work efficiently under pressure
- Handle most situations independently, but recognise the right moment to call in other resources to maintain adequate levels of quality and efficiency
