Work Choice Employment Adviser (ST/1839)

Location: Wales

Description: Shaw Trust is presently looking of Work Choice Employment Adviser (ST/1839) right now, this position will be placed in Wales. To enable clients who experience disadvantage relating to disability, health and other challenges to gain employment, independence, inclusion and control over their lives.! To provide personalised support required to help them increase their capabilities, improve their circumstances and enhance motivation.

Primarily working in North Powys but covering all of Powys, providing support to individuals with disabilities to support and sustain them into employment.

Fixed Term Contract for 6 months, with a possibility of extension

36.5 hours over 5 days

Shaw Trust is committed to safeguarding. As the role will involve working with vulnerable adults an Enhanced Criminal Records Disclosure will be required for the successful applicant.

SKILLS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Technical competency (qualifications and training)

Experience

Relevant previous experience in working with clients on employment focused programmes who face disadvantages in relation to employment, inclusion and independence. (E)

Knowledge and understanding of employment related i! ssues and service user needs for all client groups. (E)
Knowledge of employment law and disability legislation. (E)

Skills and Attributes

Able to use motivational interviewing techniques to help clients identify and understand their needs. (E)

Ability to build rapport and trust. (E)

Ability to develop knowledge and source client opportunities by proactively engaging within community networks and with employers. (E)

Ability to manage, support and review a caseload to achieve targets for progression. (E)

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team. (E)

IT knowledge or a willingness and aptitude to learn. (E)

In depth understanding of the benefit system and conducting Better of in Work calculations. (D)

Personal qualities, communicating and relating to others

Ability to problem solve and respond appropriately to a variety of situations. (E)

Ability to cope with a variety of challenging situations in a calm and sensitive! manner. (E)

Safeguarding

Be able to display an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults. (E)

This post requires a Criminal Records Bureau disclosure at Enhanced level. (E)

Willing to travel inside the designated work area and occasionally outside for meetings, training etc. with possible overnight stays. (E)
