We are looking for locum Registered Nurse's to cover palliative care in hospices throughout the Cardiff area. We offer a variety of ad-hoc shifts including days, nights & weekends.
The nature of the job can be very physically and emotionally demanding, the nurses must be capable of dealing with loss and tragedy on a regular basis. Besides administering direct care to patients, palliative care nurses frequently meet with friends and family members to support them.
Please note previous experience in palliative care is essential.
Main duties will include:
- Providing treatment and counselling to patients who are dying of incurable illnesses
- To work with physicians and other medical professionals to diagnose, treat, and care for individuals with progressive terminal conditions
- Help patients and their! family members cope with very difficult circumstances by prov! iding information, counselling and support
- Ensure that such patients receive the best possible treatments to relieve their pain and symptoms
- Must be available to start at short notice
- Previous post registration experience
- Current NMC registration
- Demonstrate high levels of Literacy, Numeracy & IT skills
- Previous experience in Palliative care
- Car Driver would be advantagous but location situated on public transport routes
- Experience on hospital ward
