The Arup West Region comprises Northern Ireland, Wales and the South West of England with offices in Cardiff, Bristol and Belfast). The scale of the West operation is, intentionally, larger than the market dictates, to enable large complex projects to be undertaken within and outside the region. Arup has been providing transportation infrastructure related consultancy services in the West for over 25 years. Of major significance has been the work Arup has undertaken for the Welsh Government and Northern Ireland Roads Service, both as lead consultant and working with contractors to deliver D&B and ECI projects in Wales and Northern Ireland. Arup in the West has also successfully delivered several major highway schemes in the Republic of Ireland as well as assisting the wider Arup in schemes in the rest of! the UK and overseas. Role
- Undertaking bridge des! ign tasks for major projects
- Conceptual design studies for bridges
- Managing the production of drawings and preparing reports and specifications
- Providing advice to clients on compliance and quality assurance standards
- Supervising and co-ordinating the work of others and co-ordinating work with engineers of other disciplines
- Contributing to the development and application of best practice processes and procedures for the projects
- Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs
- Managing project team to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines and within budget
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team Requirements
- Degree qualified and have achieved professional qualification
- Extensive experience in the field of bridges design and experience across a range of medium to large scale projects
- Be able to design an! d deliver bridges engineering solutions on major and/or complex projects
- Experience of leading teams on multi-disciplinary projects
- Able to understand the balance of engineering priorities
- Able to quickly develop successful client relationships
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines is essential
- Excellent planning and organisation skills
- Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
- Able to demonstrate strong commercial awareness.
- Experience of Design and Build would be an advantage.
