Role Summary
Support Local Welfare Provision for Wales via online, post and telephone applications. Act as system administrator for the Northgate system to allow applications to be input and processed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Delivery Key responsibility:
- Process crisis payment and Community Care grant applications using the computerised Northgate interface.
- Liaise with applicants to process information into the Northgate System.
- Undertake eligibility checks with the applicant, seeking information direct from the applicant and utilising additional computerised inter! faces for confirmation.
- To fully understand the legislation and criteria involved in awarding crisis payments and Community Care grants and process applications accordingly.
- To comply with Processing Services Customer Charter when dealing with all incoming and outbound calls.
- To complete statistical information as instructed by the Service Manager
- To act on requests for support regarding system access and use by the customer.
- To work as part of the team in achieving targets set by the Service Manager
- To deal with incoming and outgoing correspondence relating to Local Welfare Provision either by telephone, email or letter.
- Deal with and respond to enquiries from clients, citizens and internal colleagues in a positive and professional manner
- Attend training and other events relevant to develop new skills or to refresh or update existing knowledge and skills
- Share your knowledge with others to ens! ure continuity in your absence, ensuring handover is in place in advanc! e of any planned absence
§ Act as a key deliverer of the Local Welfare Provision contract for Wales.
Works closely with the Senior Decision Maker to ensure recording and escalation of information.
Perform all duties with minimum supervision
Maintain excellent attendance levels in line with the Northgate attendance policy
Maintain an excellent attitude within the Business Centre; acting as an ambassador at all levels, taking on additional duties as and when required.
Attend training and other events relevant to develop new skills or to refresh or update existing knowledge and skills. Be available to travel off site for this if required.
Responsible for meeting personal targets
Required Knowledge and Experience
§ Experience of processing data with attention to detail and good accuracy
§ Excellent telephone manner
§ Knowledg! e of service centre processes, policies and procedures, such as escalation procedures, service level agreements and client service standards.
§ Well organised
§ Excellent computer skills â" especially MS office in the area of excel and outlook.
§ Excellent communication and written skills with the ability to work confidently with customers and internal colleagues
§ Team worker â" able to work with colleagues to achieve targets and objectives.
§ Able to achieve challenging targets
Desired Knowledge and Experience
§ Knowledge of DWP grant awards and welfare provision, in particular Social Fund and Crisis Loans.
Security Clearance / CRB Clearance
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work and travel within the EU. Documentary evidence will be requested at interview.
