Software Development Officer
NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS) is WalesÂ' national IM&T strategic organisation responsible for the design, development and management of national Information, Communication & Technology (ICT) systems within NHS Wales and provides a range of services to the Welsh Government and NHS Organisations.
We are looking to appoint a Software Development Officer. This is an entry level role and you will join a busy department that dev! elops and supports many of the national computing systems with! in the NHS in Wales.
We are looking for candidates with an interest in forging a career in software development. However the role is varied and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to cut their teeth and develop skills in support, business analysis and testing. The opportunity would suit those with prior experience in software development or those holding a relevant degree but neither is essential.
Above all we want hardworking and adaptable people who can quickly learn our systems and help us successfully build and run complex technical software applications. In return we offer a varied role working as part of a large software development pool with a structured development programme, personal development plan and excellent career prospects.
Initially you will join a team supporting legacy systems with the future opportunity to train as a .NET [C#] developer.
Experience in writing software applications, either professionally or as p! art of your academic career, using any of the following technologies is advantageous but not essential and suitable training shall be provided to the right candidate: -
 Windows Forms, ASP.NET or ASP.NET MVC [using C# or VB.NET].
 MS SQL Server / T/SQL
 Unix (especially Solaris)

The salary range quoted is an incremental band. The successful applicant will be appointed to the base point of the salary band unless an incremental credit application is made by the Appointing Manager.
