About us: Welshpool is a scenic and picturesque semi rural town. The practice covers over 11,000 patients and also looks after the local community hospital. We have 5 part time nurses, 2 health care assistants and we are a dispensing practice. We have a very friendly and broad-skilled team of 7 doctors supported by a large, helpful admin and clerical staff.
We are all keen to provide a high standard of care for all our patients. These appointments are a new venture for us and we hope they will lead to a long-term sustainable improvement in our services.
Starting date: 1st November 2013 but will be flexible for suitable candidates.
Job Description:
To provide telephone triage for patients and also see face to face patients in minor ailment clinic. The triage ! nurse will share triage telephone calls with the on call GP an! d depending on their need will either offer advice on the phone, or book them into the same day minor illness clinic. They will also be able to book patients to see the duty doctor that day or into nurse or doctor appointments at a later date.The nurse will be supported by the on call doctor who will be working alongside.
Pay scale: Equivalent to Band 6 but willing to be flexible for outstanding candidates.
Experience:
Previous experience of telephone/face to face triage in the primary or secondary care setting is desirable but not essential. Independent nurse prescribing would be an advantage.
The practice is willing to help support a less experienced but talented and promising candidate with in house training by working with GPs in a transitional period.

They should be flexible and dependable.Above all we are looking for candidates with the diagnostic, therapeutic and team working skills to become part of the high level clinical team in the practice.
