Our client is looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team in Deeside. The sucessful applicant willl ensure that goods and services are procured cost effectively and delivere! d on time. The success of the role is dependent on the ability to work closely with supporting functions and foster effective working relationships and the management and development of suppliers is paramount. The overall measure of improvement will be supplierâs delivery performance, cost reductions, inventory control and the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.
Procurement :
Review purchasing systems protocol to ensure adherence to existing ISO procedures.
Ensure that re-ordering of stock and contract items is carried out as required to maintain adequate availability of parts for production and understand the MRP process thoroughly
Technical department when creating new products or in matters relating to product specification.
Participate in the development of purchasing specifications for materials, components, or products.
Supplier Management :
Oversees supplier development to ensure compliance to! delivery schedules, quality standards and competitive tenderi! ng.
Implements Long Term Agreements (LTA) with all key suppliers
Strive to identify new suppliers for components where an advantage in price, quality or delivery performance can be attained.
Develop the working relationships with intercompany supply base to improve service levels.
Negotiates and executes contracts with suppliers as per requirements for quality, cost and delivery.
Coordinates with Accounts for payment of suppliers and processes claims against suppliers if required.
Cost Reductions and Efficiency Improvements:
Continually evaluates cost and quality of goods or services.
Cost reductions through negotiation with suppliers (domestic/foreign).
Ensures the accurate monitoring and forecasting of inventory levels.
Team Relationship:
Provide leadership to the Purchasing function, develop and train staff to ensure that they meet required performance standards.
Demonstrate credibility to win the co! nfidence and support of the top management, suppliers and peer group.
Produce standard reports on supplier performance, cost savings and initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience:
CIPS qualified
Degree educated, or relevant higher education qualifications
Proven managerial experienc and strong commercial awareness.
An in-depth practical and systems understanding of MRP.
Experience of strategic industrial purchasing in a fast paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proven communicationa and influencing skills.
Degree educated, or relevant higher education qualifications.
Salary: up to 45k
