Dream Medical are currently in the process of recruiting for a Welsh NHS Trust in need of a Plastic Surgery Registrar.
This post will provide support for the consultants in providing a broad plastic surgery service.
The focus of the unit is to deliver a high quality local service particularly for hand trauma, breast reconstruction and skin cancer surgery. Elective hand surgery and general reconstructive surgery are also undertaken.
Applicants shou! ld have completed their basic surgical training, passed the MR! CS and should have at least 12 months previous experience in Plastic Surgery.
This position cares for both adult and paediatric patients within the Directorate of General Surgery. There is access to beds within Day Surgery and the High Dependency Unit. There are currently 7 (general and local anaesthetic) lists per week. A mixture of trauma, new-patient and follow-up outpatient clinics are undertaken each week, within the integrated surgical outpatient area. A dressing clinic is already established within this.
The specialty takes acute hand emergencies referred from the A&E Department and some trauma cases will be treated as combined procedures with the Orthopaedic Surgeons. The specialty also receives referrals from the Dermatology department as well as from General Practitioners and other departments within the hospital. Close co-operation with these other departments aims to provide comprehensive reconstructive services for other specialties.
! The position will include on call duties & the Unit holds monthly clinical and administration audit meetings. A monthly clinical pathology meeting is held and there will be a fortnightly Skin Cancer MDT meeting and combined clinic with the Dermatology Department.
