Location: Cardiff
The role will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of industry leading credit risk strategies and policies, and other analytical solutions to support decision making for the business.
Accountabilities
- Apply advanced statistical/technical methods in the development of new initiatives, championing best practice and challenging other analysts' work
- Display a "can do" attitude to meeting stakeholder requirements and overcoming obstacles to delivery, suggesting solutions.
- Provide technical leadership to junior team members on all aspects of advanced statistical/technical developments and analytics, managing delivery of their tasks whilst increasing their technical knowledge.
- Where required, manage junior analysts, provide technical leadership and coaching including the setting of clear objectives, providing clear, objective and constructive feedback.
- Lead the scoping, design, development and impl! ementation of new initiatives, and input into the preparation ! of resource plans.
- Act as an expert point of contact on all aspects of risk strategies and their development; Be recognised as a consistent source of business insight and solutions and coach analysts in these areas of expertise; Influence discussions on solutions.
- Take ownership for delivery of individual key tasks within development plans, anticipating constraints and risks to plans and taking mitigating actions
- Challenge all existing processes and pro-actively identify and implement improvements in all areas of phases of technical developments, incorporating wider business knowledge.
Candidate Profile
- A good degree in a numerate subject with knowledge of advanced statistical and analytical techniques.
- Good experience in the development of risk solutions in retail banking.
- Experienced in the extraction and manipulation of data to support risk analysis and strategy development, e.g. defining observati! on periods, outcome metrics
- Experienced and competent in the use of computer-based software and/or statistical packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Matlab, C, C++,, JAVA, EViews) for delivering a range of analyses.
- Proven ability to work without the need for close supervision showing excellent time management, planning and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with experience of tailoring communication for different audiences.
- A natural ability with numbers, with the ability to work quickly and at a high level of detail and accuracy, and a highly analytical approach to problem solving.
