Communities First is an exciting initiative from the Welsh Government to improve the quality of life and opport! unities available to people who live in some of the most disadvantaged communities within Wales. The Communities First Initiative recognises that if real solutions are going to be identified then these have to be developed jointly with local people, local authorities, voluntary and business sectors alike.
Newport City Council, in partnership with Communities First Cluster Boards, is looking for an innovative and dynamic Cluster Manager to work with local communities within a Cluster to build community capacity and seek local solutions to identified issues.
Area covered:
West Cluster (Duffryn, Gaer and Maesglas)
You will work in conjunction with the Communities First Cluster Board and be line managed by Newport City Council.
You will possess a relevant qualification and experience in staff management with a minimum of 4 years’ experience of community development work. In addition to this a working knowledge of the Voluntary Se! ctor, Local Government and Partnership working would be benefi! cial, along with a keen appreciation of the needs of disadvantaged groups and a commitment to community empowerment.
Fixed term appointment until 31 March 2015.

Council posts and associated pay are subject to the outcome of an on-going Pay & Grading Review.
