The position of the Microbiologist is a critical position within the business. The Microbiologist will be expected to embra! ce the Company's 4-I values (Intensity, Integrity, Innovation and Involvement).
Over 50% of the business processes have products that are carried into the aseptic areas and, for these products, the level of sterility is critical. The microbiologist is responsible for ensuring that these products comply to this requirement. This is achieved by testing the product on a daily basis and evaluating the findings but also monitoring the clean rooms for conformance to the relevant standard. Where issues are identified these must be brought to the attention of the Quality Manager and advice given on the implications of these issues and the steps required to correct them.
Responsibilities of the Microbiologist:
- To undertake all microbiological lab work in compliance with procedures
- To help ensure all clean rooms are maintained in accordance with the relevant standard
- To undertake training in clean room discipline for operators
- To help ensure all clean rooms are maintained in accor! dance with the relevant standard
- To ensure non-compliance's are brought to the attention of the appropriate personnel
- To measure, record and trend the performance of the clean rooms
- To have primary responsibility for the production of certificates
- To continue to monitor and review new techniques and maintain up-to-date knowledge
- To carryout pyrogen testing
- Either academic qualification or equivalent experience
- Experience or knowledge of requirements to conform to Class 7 clean room
- Ability to advise and assist Quality Manger all all aspects of microbiology
- To self manage work load and time
- Good written and numeric skills
- Confidence to communicate, train and direct colleagues in clean room behaviour
- Good IT skills
- Manufacturing background and experienced in cleanroom operations ! with a either a life science or pharmaceutical background
Salary / Hourly Rate: £20,000 to £22,000 per annum
