Leading public sector facing software and information solutions house requires new South Wales or South West based software delivery focused Project Manager to join an established UK wide team working to deliver an on going programme of software implementations to various public sector clients all around the UK.
Their PMO is currently South East heavy and they are very interested to hear from IT Project Managers from anywhere within South Wales and or the West Country - within striking Distance of Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol or the M5 corridor. To be based from home and working on client sites around the region with a strong focus on local business. Will suit experienced professional PM who has recent software delivery experience and an ability to handle multiple concurrent projects with an average value of between 10K to 50K on average. Some projects are up to 1M value and are usually a mix of back offic! e systems and white label web sites used by local authorities.! This team aims to deliver standard implementations in an innovative way and to spot opportunities for client orders - so commerciality and presence will be key.
The post holder is likely to possess the following:
Experience of managing software projects in a commercial environment (any public sector experience is also very much of interest)
An understanding and experience of working with Project Methodologies such as PRINCE, PMBOK or similar and experience of customising methodologies to meet needs
Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project, Visio etc.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Flexible and can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks
Ability to read communication styles of customers and other team members
Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating - with ability to elicit coop! eration from a wide variety of sources
Ability to defuse tension and address objections from customers and the wider project team
Able to negotiate and reach compromise to ensure project completion
Strong written, oral and communication / interpersonal skills
Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
Responsibilities include:
To manage and control the delivery of allocated customer projects/orders within a commercially aspirated project framework
Agreeing, in conjunction with commercial staff and the customer, the project scope, goals and deliverables
Developing full-scale project plans and associated documents
Effectively communicate project information to team members and stakeholders
Liaise with all project stakeholders (internal and external) on an on going basis
Estimating resources
Negotiating with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel
Managing project exp! ectations with both the customer and company stakeholders
Delegatin! g tasks and responsibilities to personnel
Identifying and resolving issues and conflicts, dependencies and critical path
Planning and scheduling project timelines and milestones
Tracking project milestones and deliverables
Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
Proactively managing changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
Ensuring project success criteria are understood and agreed by the customer throughout project life cycle
In conjunction with other managers; coach, mentor, motivating and supervising project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
Building, developing and growing vital business relationships
Critiquing personal and project team performance to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements and improve future project success
Managing t! he financial aspects of the projects including controlling project costs and managing customer invoicing.
