Responsibilities The key focus of the Project Planner will be to prepare integrated and co-ordinated project plans, enabling resource and material requirements to be forward planned and monitored to meet project schedule and cost deliverables. As the Project Planner you will be responsible for (amongst other duties) e! nsuring: comprehensive, logic linked, project plans are develo! ped incorporating resource and skills planning, materials planning, cost estimating, earned value forecasting and reporting.
prepared plans are continuously monitored to accurately reflect progress and maintain accurate earned value, cash prediction, and resource data for internal and external purposes. critical paths are identified and action plans are developed and implemented to maximise project quality, cost and delivery objectives. accurate reporting on Work Package progress, co-ordinates all functional activity on the project and ensures that problems and bottlenecks are anticipated and resolved in a timely manner to prevent negative impact on the project risk and mitigation plans are maintained to manage critical issues and problems and demonstrated in the plans. the provision of sufficiently accurate data to enable the Work Package Managers and Project Managers to ensure that co-ordinated project activity complies with and delivers company financial and bus! iness targets on cash and project margins.
regular project co-ordination meetings are held on the status of the project with specific reference to engineering activity, sourcing, quality, cost and delivery. participation in the continuous improvement of planning and scheduling processes to support successful project delivery and business improvement. The Project Planner will report to the Planning Manager and support the Planning Manager in their duties. The Individual We will require our Project Planner to be: Educated to technician or equivalent Have a clear knowledge of project planning processes and project lifecycle Excellent knowledge of Primavera P6 (P3e, P3) and a working knowledge of MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access packages Experience in a Project Planner / Scheduling role Knowledge of the railway industry, Network Rail GRIP 3, 4 and 5-8, Possession and Isolation Planning, Safe Systems of Work Ideally the successful Project Planner ! will also: Be educated to degree level appropriate to rail disciplines !
