Job Role: Product Support Engineer
Type: Permanent
Salary: Circa £40k & Benefits
Location: Cardiff
Your duties:
- To provide a product support service for PT products, representing the design department.
- To execute product improvement projects to agreed timelines, effectively interfacing with internal support groups including quality, manufacturing engineering, operations and purchasing.
- Technical liaison with external vendors where necessary (quality improvements, cost down etc.).
- C! o-ordination and implementation of:
oImpending changes with the customer and arrangement of timely customer approval;
oDesign changes effectively through the CO/PLM system;
oVerification and validation of changes as appropriate;
- Assessment of NCRs and implementation of agreed corrective/preventative actions.
- Plan engineering builds to procedure and execute with operational staff as necessary.
- Ensure that your manager is kept fully informed of issues, be they technical, organisational or personnel.
- To work in accordance with the requirements of formal company procedures (quality, IT and health and safety).
- Work with all other company employees as a team member and not to limit work to any particular discipline or function.
- All other essential related duties as required.
- Qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
- 3 years' experien! ce of development or product support, preferably within a regulated design or sustained engineering production environment (eg Pharma, automotive, aerospace)
- Injection moulding experience desirable.
- Experience of implementing change of existing products and processes (Change Management)
- Clear communication and organised planning skills - Essential.
- Formal problem solving techniques an advantage.
- Working knowledge of risk reduction, in particular DFMEA and PFMEA.
- Use of statistical techniques to assess sample sizes, capability and quantitative data an advantage.
- Understanding of process capability including stat analysis tools ( Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen)
- Must have strong organisational skills and be capable of communication at all levels of the business.
