Job Title: Home Care AssistantLocations: Newport, Torfaen, Monmouth and CaerphillySalary: CompetitiveHours: Full and Part time positions, Weekday and Weekend hours between 7am â€" 11pmOur client is looking for a Home care assistant who will offer essential care and support within the local community for their service users to maintain their independence and remain living in their own home. Home carers should be flexible, caring and compassionate towards the elderly and vulnerable. Home Carer Duties Involve: 1. Action the individual care plans for each service user and supporting their wishes ! to remain at home.2.
Home carers must ensure service ! user individuality and encourage independence.3. Assist service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; to help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.4. Help family or others including other carers to provide care for service users.5. Assist in keeping service users physically comfortable.6.
Notify care co-ordinator immediately of any matter affecting the well being of service users or changes in conditions or circumstances.7. Actively encourage service users, according to their capabilities, to participate in all aspects of daily living.8. Assisting service users with preparing simple food and drinks and where necessary assist with making / changing beds, emptying commodes, household cleaning & dusting, shopping and other social errands.Home Carer Essential Skills: • Be able to promote quality care based on an individual’s assessed needs• Understand the rights of elderly people.• Be able to implement /! adhere to a care plan.• Owning own car and having a clean driving license.• Have an understanding of working in the community as part of a team. • Be able to work in a safe & effective manner.
- Possess a caring and patient attitude towards others. • Have the ability to form good working relationships with others. • Willing to participate in courses both internally & externally for self & professional development. • Be available for flexible working hours including weekends, Bank Holidays and extra hours.• Understand the importance of a positive approach to working Codes of Practice.
- Understand and commit to the promotion of Equal Opportunities Policies in a working environment. All mandatory and other training provided. QCF Level 2 & 3 desirable but not essential as candidate will work towards the qualification. The client will apply for Enhanced CRB disclosure, (expense to be met by applicant).
