The general management of the Sport Wales BASES (British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences) accredited physiology laboratory. This ! includes the maintenance, preparation, calibration and safe-keeping of laboratory equipment, together with the overseeing of safe laboratory practice. The post involves working closely with the sport science and medicine staff as well as coaches and athletes of supported sports to deliver a World Class bases accredited Laboratory to support programmes and athletes from the Olympic and Paralympic sports on to the World Class Performance Pathway as well as to funded athletes from non-Olympic Commonwealth sports based within Wales.

Job Context

The technician will be an integral part of the Sport Wales Institute. They will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the guidance of the Institute managersand physiology staff and will also be involved in the design and development of the Sports science and medicine provision.

Key Tasks:
To co-ordinate repair and maintenance work for all equipment utilised in the Sport Wales physiology lab! oratory and ensure software is current

To carry out c! omprehensive calibration and general equipment maintenance, and ensure electronic records are kept up to date

To manage equipment service contracts, warranty policies and consumable stock levels

To undertake general housekeeping of the laboratory and stores and ensure that equipment is in good working order at all times

To ensure that the laboratory is clean, hygienic and operated as a clinical environment in line with BASES (British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences) standards

To be involved in the on-going development of the laboratory, including researching new and/or upgrades of equipment and products

Liaise and work effectively as part of the Sports Wales Institute to assist in the preparation and delivery of sport science support including delivering educational workshops and presentation

To help create a high performance environment within the Sport Wales Institute through the provision of laboratory supp! ort

Attend & contribute to Sport Wales Institute & NGB meetings as appropriate

Provide regular oral and written reports associated with Labsupport at appropriate meetings

Work within the rules of the relevant Professional Code of Conduct, professional confidentiality, standards and guidelines

Participate in ad hoc projects and/or research and or applied research across the Institute
